A QUICK HISTORY :
Born and raised in Connecticut, USA, I graduated from Rockville High School and enrolled in Fine Arts at the University of Hartford.
This was interrupted by a two year period in the Army as a communications specialist.
After the Army, I was a radio announcer for two years in New York State with my own morning radio show, while attending classes at Alfred University.
After that, I attended L’ Istituto dei Belle Arti in Rome, Italy to study Classical Design, and then the Academy of Art in San Francisco, California to study Painting and Sculpture. At the Institute of Oriental Arts in San Francisco I studied calligraphy and Japanese painting.
In California, I created and managed Thursday Productions, a large artisan laboratory, factory and gallery for the design, manufacture and exposition of new sculptural forms, with wood as my chosen material. I opened and managed the art gallery Open Space.
I began to teach painting, sculpture and design during this period and continue to this day.
Many art exhibitions, collaborations and interior and architectural commissions followed.
In 1981, I moved back to Connecticut and applied this previous experience
to design and build a solar house, where my wife Elizabeth and I lived for five years and where our son Jackson was born.
I opened and managed "Ideal Form Gallery".
In 1988, after a year of intense painting and research in New York City, we moved to Italy, where I have worked in many disciplines, graphic design, furniture and set design, interiors, as well as painting and sculpture. I opened and managed "OttOttO Arte", a showroom/gallery/school in Porto Santo Stefano, Tuscany.
While in Italy, I also began to experiment with multimedia and performance and created “Vibrations”, an exhibition/performance incorporating sound, dance and audience participation. It has been presented in many forms in various public sites.
I currently live and work in Rome, where I am Director of "ARTROM Gallery", an artist exhibition space where my wife and I curate and present art Exhibitions.
We also manage the on-line art gallery www.artromgallery.com for the presentation and promotion of artists.
I continue to create paintings and sculpture and accept design and decoration commissions and also still find the time to teach and write.
